DENIM DAY! Wednesday, April 29th

Wear Jeans with a Purpose!

Wear jeans to show your support for victims and survivors of sexual assault. Join us by wearing denim and a Denim Day sticker ($5 suggested donation) on April 29th. If you can’t wear denim to work, you can still show your support by purchasing a denim ribbon pin ($8 each) to wear.

All proceeds benefit WCYFS’ services for victims of sexual assault. If you, your organization or business would like to participate, please fill out and return the Participation Form.

Why Denim?

Denim Day was established 20 years ago in 1999 after a controversial ruling by the Italian Supreme Court. An 18-year-old girl in Italy was raped by her driving instructor, but the Italian Supreme Court overturned the rape conviction on the basis of the victim’s clothing. They concluded that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped to remove them and, therefore, gave consent. Wearing jeans on Denim Day reminds us of the harmful attitudes and misconceptions surrounding sexual assault.

Wear Teal Day! Tuesday, April 7, 2020

Wear teal, the color of sexual assault awareness and prevention, on Tuesday, April 7, 2020! Wearing teal—whether it’s a teal ribbon, shirt, or other accessory—will show your support for survivors and serve as a conversation-starter about Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
